Pork or Fork, Just bring me something to eat with!
What a ride so far! Yesterday, when we arrived in Atlanta, we checked in at our gate for Korean Air. The ladies looked at our passport and said we could not go on to Vietnam . . . yet. Our passport visas said Sept. 2. Our flight from Seoul to Hanoi was to land in Vietnam at 10:30ish pm. . . on Sept. 1. She said we could either spend the night in Atlanta or Seoul. Marty wanted to get the long flight over with.
Our flight to Korea was about 15 hours long. In recent weeks, I would have thought I'd love to sit down for that long. I was wrong! Boy were we glad to walk around again once we landed. It didn't help that our feet looked twice their regular size.
Actually, the flight was wonderful. God has been so good to give us traveling mercies - very little turbulence and great food. I felt like they brought us something to eat or drink every few minutes.
We landed in Korea at about 5:00pm and weren't due to fly out until 8:00pm - THE NEXT NIGHT. So, we had to find a hotel. We did get room in a town close to Seoul - we were told later that it was a "made up city". It only exists because of the airport. Basically all that was there were hotels, restaurants, and mini-marts. There were dormitories for airport employees.
We checked in and spent some time figuring out that the lights in the room were operated by placing our room key in a slot by the door. We really thought we would spend the night in the dark. Jennifer was not for this AT ALL!!!
Next we walked around the made up city in search of food. The only catch is, we could not read any of the signs and hardly anyone understood us. I can't figure out why, our southern accents are as good as anyones!!! At every restaurant, people were cooking at their own tables. OK Wendy, don't think Melting Pot here, think more KOA style! We were leary of the pork, but we happened on this amazing American couple who were more than happy to help us order and eat! Thank God for Chris and Gloria. If you are reading this, we want you to understand that God put you in our path. Thanks for being a part of this amazing journey! Chris took us to the tank and helped us pick out our fish. They also gave us tips on the customs and told us a little about the made up city. They also told us that if we wanted to go back into Seoul, we could take the "Seoul Train!" (He wasn't kidding!) The meal cost us a total of $13 and we tipped $3. You would have thought we had given the waitress a brand new Mercedes!!!! She jumped up and down and clapped in our faces. She also greeted us at the door waving with both hands as we left.
Now to tell you about the weather here. It feels like fall at home. It has been misting rain and quite cool. We did eat our meal outside, but again, by the fire. Just to tell you, if you were watching any news about the Korean missionaries returning to the airport in Seoul, that is where we are!!!
After our meal, we found a Dunkin' Doughnuts and got coffee and some stale doughnuts. Then we went back to the hotel and literally crashed!!!!
Today it is raining again outside and it also rained quite a bit in the bathroom of our room! There was no shower curtain and after a long soaking bath, Marty took a shower and flooded the floor with water! Thank goodness there was a drain in the floor. Jennifer was kind enough to come in and mop it up with the little hand towel we had. Try taking two showers with only two hand towels and one bath towel, after mopping up the floor! (no washcloth!) We had breakfast at the hotel and then walked around the city. Remember, it was Sunday morning here so not much was open. We went back and took naps. Then we struck out again and found a department store somewhat comparable to our Walmart. Only bigger! It was five levels and it had a pet store (don't touch the animals!!!!), a Dr.s office and just about anything else you could think of. After leaving the store, we went to a French bakery and got lunch. Now we are at the airport and we only have about 5 more hours before our flight! Pray, Pray, Pray! Isaac, we are on our way! Anna Claire, you can't imagine just how much we miss you. We are ok and we know you are being taken very good care of. Remember, you are to be spoiled!!! Give the animals our love.
God bless all of you and we can't wait to give you more updates with pictures.

Okay so just like Wendy my tears are flowing. I am so happy that you guys have had a good flight and that you are that much closer to getting your little boy. You all, of course, are still in my prayers every hour on the hour. Can't wait to see what happens next, thank you for letting all of us be a part of this journey with you. I am smiling, crying, and rejoicing with you daily. We love you both very much. Love - Charm
Jennifer, you know from past experience that while I am reading this I am close to tears. The excitement you must be feeling must be overwhelming because as I read your blog I feel overwhelmed for you. My Mom and Dad have been keeping up on your blog and I am sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that Daddy thought the Seoul Train joke was really funny. So glad travelling thus far has been non-stressful and it sounds like AC is going to do just fine. We'll keep praying and reading and can't wait to hear when you finally meet Isaac face to face.
We love you,
Debbie, Mike, Caitlyn, Caleb and Catherine
